Frequently asked questions
FAQ's
What do I do if my hot water heater is leaking?
- Turn off gas or electricty to the water heater. You can also turn the thermostat on the water heater to pilot mode.
- Turn off water supply to the water heater. You may need to shut the water off at the main if you do not have a water shut off at the hot water heater.
- Drain the Water Heater. Attach a hose to the drain valve at the bottom of the tank. Run the other end to the floor drain or place that water can be drained to. Open a hot water faucet to allow air into the tank.
- Call Santt Paul Plumbing Heating Air.
Why won't my air conditioner start in the spring?
We have found that many customers turn off the A/C breaker at the circuit breaker box in the fall. This prevents the air conditioner from starting in the winter by accident. Severe damage can be caused by an a/c starting in the winter due to the cold.
Check the breaker in your panel box to confirm that it is on. If the breaker is on and your a/c still does not start, call Saint Paul Plumbing Heating Air to check.
How do I prevent cloged drains?
- Check your sink and tub stoppers at least four times a year for hair and bio-film buildup.
- Once a week, fill each sink in your home to the brim and then pull up the stopper. The volume and weight of the water will help flush the drain lines.
- Once a month or so, pur an organic drain cleaner like Bio Clean down each of your drains. Organic products work much beter than the chemical drain cleaners and won't damage your fixtures or pipes.
- Never pour oil or grease down a drain...instead, use a jar that you can later discard.
